"Mike & Red Rock Auto are awesome. I was going to a different mechanic before, and got hit with a laundry list of "issues" totaling almost 4k that weren't there when the same mechanic had taken a look less than 5 months prior. I went to Mike for a second opinion. He took a look at my Forester and within the day let me know that my car was in great shape except for only 2 necessary repairs compared to the 5-6 I'd heard from the last place. He was honest, explained everything so I knew what was up, and even let me know which things needed to be fixed ASAP and which I could wait on, which I appreciated a bunch as a grad student who wasn't looking forward to paying for a ton of repairs all at once. "Moving to a different state it took me some trial and error to find a shop I trusted. I can't recommend these guys enough. I had to do an expensive head gasket job on my Subaru so I got quotes from a lot of shops. Red Rock told me they might not be the cheapest but they would do it right. Turns out they were the cheapest and did a fantastic job quickly. Every time I've gone in since then they've been very upfront about what actually needs to be fixed and what can be put off.
